    Hello,

I am just wondering... is it possible to hear noise from CPU??? I know how strange it sounds but I don't know what else it can be. Let me explain.
    1. The NB must run from batteries, not AC.
    2. I use NHC -> I switch to maximum performance
After some few minutes I begin to hear such weird low zzzzzz sound (sounds like electricity or no idea how to explain). When I am on max. performance, I hear it CONSTANTLY. The same happens when I am using any other profile, I just don't hear it constantly, only when the CPU is used. When I plug the AC, everything is alright and no noise anymore. First I was suspicious that it is HDD, but it is definitely not. It must be something about the CPU, considering I hear it all the time when running on max.
Does anybody have an idea what it can be? Thanks for any comment!

PS: And it is not the fan... ;) I use speedfan to disable them.
    PS2: NB: Asus M6800Va

I get the same low freq sound after my z63 starts, before the fan turns on, if I put my ear *right* next to the fan vent - 6 inches away and it's inaudible. It's not the HDD, OD, or fan; it probably comes off the motherboard or something else in the electronics, but those more technically adept may have better comments.

Everything is normal - don't worry about it.

But I have solution (from yesterday night). If I have turned off Bluetooth, V6J make noise (noise~whistle). When I turn on Bluetooth, all is OK, silent like on AC mode.

yup i used to get the same sound on my very old desktop pc AMD Athlon 1800+ . except then it came through the sound card too! how annoying.

*puts head close to NB with fan off and HDD off and I hear it too. Sounds like some 50Hz frequency buzz...

I think I have an idea of what your talking about..... would it be the same noise as the moto razr v3 keypad? If anyone has a razr, at night put ur ears up to the keypad and u will hear a buzzing sound. Thats normal because the backlite of the keypad is using this weird stuff that buzzes..... do a google search. But back to the point, it might be the same as that, only its not suppose to happen in the laptop. hope this helps, i might be totally wrong

Electrical buzzing can be a variety of sources. One may be the wireless card, or it could be your ram, or it could be the backlight for the LCD. It's hard to trace these noises, as the parts are very close together, but on mine, I get some buzzing when I turn the transmit power for my wireless card down. Also, I get a little bit of a whine from under the keyboard, maybe the ram, maybe the processor. Perplexing, but it's not a big issue unless I'm in a silent room.

I had this kind of problem with my old ASUS M2. In the end I wrote to asus and got a purpose built bios that solved the problem. In that case it had something to do with the CPU causing interference in the sound card. The solution, as far as I understood it, involved clocking down the FSB slightly.

Happens with my V6J as well. When running on batt, I'm hearing this buzz from the south-east of the open notebook (near right speaker). Turns off at times (e.g. when the HDD is in use).

Tried to mute speakers, but the noise didn't disappear. This doesn't eliminate interference with the audio card or speakers, however.

Have to RMA my v6j in near future anyway, so I'll mention this as well, see what they do about it...

EBE, please try turn ON Bluetooth. On my V6J after turning ON Bluetooth, Buzz is eliminated.

It's often a part of the power conversion chain that causes some noise. Coils especially are notorious whistlers when hot and/or under heavy load/
