Allow me to introduce myself, I have always been an HP type of guy, I love HP but I have found myself replacing my HP laptops every year because of their hardware issues (to hot, screen brightness sucks, battery life..ect) I'm a student and live on my own so I can't afford to keep replacing my laptop. Although i'm a tech junkie so it gets hard when you always want the next best thing. All my buds have moved on to Mac and they have their laptops from 2-3 years ago and let me tell you they last. I REFUSE to jump ship but lately I have been tempted.

So i'v been eyeing the Asus UL line since the VT's came out but wasn't impressed with the processor, although the turbo33 is amazing. With Asus finally releasing it's I3 laptops I'm want to jump ship but can't decide which would be a better fit for my lifestyle and personal needs. It seems Macbook is the only computer that fits these needs unless someone here can tell me otherwise and please do cause I don't want to Mac.

Since I'm going back to school this next semester I need something light weight, portable, and has a long lasting battery.

But I also use my computer for media, I'm a music junkie and I also make slideshows, edit pictures, and make funny music videos for friends, so they can post it on Youtube..ect

I blog a lot as well, so a good keyboard with no/little flex would be ideal.

I don't do gaming AT ALL maybe pacman here and there lol, but obviously the bigger harddrive the better for all my music, videos, and photos the HP I have is 250GB and full, I have a external 500GB hard drive which has another 100GB worth of stuff, plus a back up of all my stuff from this computer.

Optical drive, I'm not sure if I would want one or not, I'm still deciding on that one but leaning towards maybe it's a good idea since I do burn a lot of discs, but then again portability will be sacrificed.

So I'm not sure how powerful of a laptop I would need since I don't do gaming but constantly edit videos ..ect At the same time I don't want to sacrifice battery life but anything would be better then the 3 hour span my Hp gets right now.

the Ul30JT, U35JC, UL80J (Best Buy) all look VERY ideal to me, and seem to be what i'm looking for but I just don't know if thats first of all the right choice for me, and second of all which would be the best.

Thank you for help in deciding, I might be a tech junkie but my knowledge is no where near what some of you know.
