I have an Asus w3j. When running on battery or AC, the HDD time out setting in power 4 gear never works. Even though it is set for 3 minutes on battery, the HDD light continues to blink.

Is this normal, or is there something I am missing?

Due to some 'smart' implementation of some Windows services or power management 'features' (I don't know which) the HDD will be accessed by WinXP once every few seconds. I tried for a while to get rid of this but I couldn't.

So the HDD will never stay idle long enough to spin down... Sorry about that.
