Right clicking on the task bar icon, only Super Performance, High Per, Game Per.,
and presentation are highlighted (in Bold).

DVD, E-mail, CD-Audio and battery saver are not available (not bold). W3v is stock straight from factory. Did they not install all choices or what is the deal?

If its plugged in, it'll only display the Higher settings and presentation because they figure if you're plugged in, you're not trying to save any juice. If you unplug, you should get the others back.

There you go.... yes unplug it. When you unplug it, the others will come back and super performance will go away as that one you can only use when plugged in.

Whilst on the subject of performances, does anyone know, when I am unplugged and try to get on to high performance, this error message comes up: [IMG]

    Thanks

How do you have so many choices? And with different names? I have only four different settings: two available when plugged in (max performance and high performance) and three available when unplugged (high performance, medium performance, and max power savings).

On a related note - Has anyone compared the Power4Gear to the OEM Windows power profiles? Does it make a significant difference, or can I just uninstall it and use the built-in Windows profiles?

You have an older M5n.... all of the systems from this year came with a newer powergear version which has all these options.... I'm not 100% sure it's compatible with the older notebooks, but you could certainly download a newer version and try it.

Um, uninstall P4G and use Centrino Hardware Control? That'll clear your problem up really quick....if you don't want to do that, you could just reinstall P4G, which might fix it.

Yeah, something became corrupted and a reinstall should fix you right up.

... I do....... you're probably switching to presentation mode.. and in presentation mode it may want to switch to 800x600....... see what mode you're in when you pull the plug... there are ways to change that in the settings.

While we're on the subject does anyone else have problems with the system changing settings? I set the screen saver to "None" and a day or so later it's reset itself to the Win XP logo.

Also I set the power config to go into stand by never when on AC power and it keeps turning it back on. Very annoying.

Finally I'm using a Microsoft Bluetooth mouse and the Widcomm Bluetooth stack and whenever the system attempts to enter stand by I get a message about the Bluetooth device preventing it.

It's on the disk...... I'd prefer you used powergear until you actually decided you didn't like it..... not just stop using it because a file got corrupted.. Uninstall it and then put the drivers disc back in and put it back on.

PROPortable you're right, it changes to 800X600 when i'm in presentation mode. I tried to changed it back the widescreen resolution but it keeps switching back to 800X600.

Stay out of presentation mode... that's for when you're outputting to a projector or something... there are ways to change it -- but just stay out of that mode....

    While on the subject...

why can't i change the CPU settings??? When I change them to, say 50% for ((game)), hit save config, it resets itself back to 100%.

I also tryed the Presentation setting, and It also set my Res.. haywire.

It seems you only have CPU control on Battery (DC) settings.

    any advise??

I just bought my W3V last night. Played with the buttons. Switched the presentation mode, and somehow, it ended up in a loop where the notebook tried to reset the screen resolution that I can't get out of, and eventually crashes XP.

Maybe it was unnecessary, but I used the recovery disks, reinstalled everything, and it seems to be fine. Stay out of presentation mode!

I think I'm missing something here :( I've bought Asus Z96S a week ago, installed P4G from the Asus driver CD using the automated installation option and i cannot find any settings or the P4G app itself. It just replaced default windows power plans with P4G plans and the only tweaking I can do is with windows power settings.
