You need one that supports the overclock. Some may require the Extreem version rather than the hybrid version too............

He has a G51VX-A1 which supports the overclocking via Power4Gear Hyrbid.

Sort of dumb question but are you sure you had it do begin with?
Parts of programs just don't missing.

    You have a quad, right?

I thought the overclocking thing doesn't support quads.

It doesn't support the quad version of the G71 iirc. it does support the quad version of the G51, as it works on Sach's Q9000 I believe.

as has already been stated, it says in the top right of the screen that it is plugged in. and also- I just unplugged my laptop. It still gives me the option to OC.

ehh..just use setfsb, much more effective way to OC, it does work on my laptop tho, Q9000. but i find it useless, 2.15Ghz aints enuf for me. i usually OC to 2.3GHz when gaming, maybe 2.35 or 2.4ghz for no reason. highest ive gone was 2.50ghz for the 3dmark score. i tried it @ 2.52ghz but my gpu driver crashed @ 615/995/1540 on the second last test (dragon one) so i gave up as that was my 5th or 6th 3dmark run on that day lol.

    Try re-installing from recovery disc.
