Hey guys, here's the rundown.
I've been getting random shutdowns from my laptop. Most of the time, the plug that goes in and the area around on the laptop where I plug it in (I really don't know what it is exactly called) are both very hot (I playfully poked a friend with it and got a welt the next day...oops).
Now here's the kicker
I opened up my laptop to reveal black things around the soldering pins over where the plug was on the motherboard.
Now here's the puncher (what?)
My laptop has NOT given me a random shutdown since I kept the battery out (though the pins should be loose because when I wiggle the plug around, it shuts down, and no that's not why I get random shutdowns, it has happened with the battery in).
What's up with this, the shutdowns occur when the battery is present and in AC/DC , is my laptop being fed too much voltage because of this?

Either start shopping around for a new laptop or start contacting Asus to see how much repairs will cost. You don't want to be messing around with a laptop that's having issues with the power supply. And make sure to backup your important files right away. Don't want a surge to kill the HDD.
I'm not an electrical engineer, but the heat from plug is probably from resistance caused by who knows what. Your laptop isn't in good shape. -
^^^^^^^^^^ What he said. Check for glue or other gunk inside between the plug and laptop as that could be causing resistance. Either way a call to Asus sounds like a good idea.
