Not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but the unbranded powerbrick(Delta electronics)that shipped with my g51vx-a1 runs pretty hot. i was in the midst of clearing my desk of unessentials and tying wires together when i picked up the brick and noticed it was pretty hot.

At first i thought it might be a grounding issue or powersurge etc. but my aps monitor recorded no large surges in power in 22 days of uptime so i used my f50's asus branded powerbrick and there was a large difference in heat as it ran way cooler.
I was wondering if it is even worth it to send it back for replacement or if anyone else that had the delta electronics adaptor noticed any heat issues with the brick?

Might just be the adapter. I don't see why they'd put a third party power brick in the same box as a new G51.

I'd RMA it. Twice as big?

Wow. Does it even fit in a laptop bag?

    thank you soviet.

it is nice to note that heat in power bricks is quite common, i'm probably more concerned with the quality of the differing adapters. While Delta electronics may in fact be the manufacturer of the Asus branded bricks it still is a concern (when i have both running in identical applications and placement) that the Delta runs quite hot compared to the Asus which runs significantly cooler and under the same stress. Smaller magnets? less amperage? build quality? might be the factors in the difference in heat but it shouldn't be that much of a difference should it?

Maybe asus was under pressure to ship out units so threw in the DE bricks instead of waiting for the Asus ones.

I will be contacting tech support and requesting a different adapter.

The Delta power supply either uses larger less efficient transformers, or the EMI shielding in the casing is thicker and all the heat generated inside is saturating to the shielding. We will never know unless we open it up. However, my money is on the former.

Either way, looks like RMA bait.
