Where can I find out (or can someone explain) the difference between the various P4G profiles? For instance what is the difference between high/super performance? Which of the AC modes will throttle the CPU multiplier? Dynamic or fixed?

Thanks for any help you guys can give.

If you cycle through the configuration screen on P4G, the features of the given mode should appear in the right side of the window (left side being the Explorer-like list of the modes). You should be able to sort out your issue here.

AC modes, as I recall, don't throttle the CPU - it runs at full speed fixed. You need something like RMC or NHC to do dynamic cpu speed switching.

Yes that is true. But in some modes (quite office, dvd playing etc) the CPU runs at a lower speed. Or at least according to windows "my computer" info. This however is not specified in the config menu.

So my question is, is there any place where I can find out what exactly the various modes are doing? Because what it lists on the right hand side of the config menu do not appear to be the whole picture.

The config menu gives the cpu speed for each mode in % of the proc's full speed: batt saving 25%, office 50%, dvd 75%, etc; the exact speed depends on your processor. I'm not sure whether this runs the multiplier or just the Mhz.

All other components (time to standby/hibernate, video panel brightness, screensaver, LCD off) that P4G can potentially control are listed in the right pane. What else are you looking for, and maybe we can help?

Weird! My P4G totally doesn't say that stuff. A bunch of the pull down menu is in fact grayed out...

Edit: nevermind! I turned off "auto-performance" and now everything shows and can be changed.

But you gave me most of the info I needed. Thank you very much :)

right click on the P4G on your system try and select configuration..

It'll give you a description of all the modes, on DC or AC.

I find that setting CPU at 25% makes my lappy almost useless.
