OK so i recently noticed my W3J was acting up as to profiles in power4gear when it went on standby when it shouldn't have with the current power4gear setting i had it on. I did some investigating and right clicked on my desktop, went to properties, screen saver, monitor power, and then power schemes. Under power schemes on the little pull down menu, there was no option that said Power4Gear, just the regular windows settings. Ive tried uninstalling/reinstalling power4gear but it does not show up on the list. My question is WHY is it not showing up as a selectable power management scheme?

you're looking in the wrong place. Power4Gear is an entirely self-contained program. It doesn't "add in" to Windows power schemes, it overrides them, at least regarding screen brightness and CPU function. So in order to adjust settings, you need to go into the Power4Gear program.

That's not true, djembe... it IS supposed to show up as a Windows selectable scheme if you have it installed.

As to why it doesn't show up... is beyond me...

exactly, and its lack of presence on that list makes me question weather or not it is fully in effect. I know the CPU settings are as well as the brightness settings but ... not the screen/hd/standby times etc. any help would be appreciated

What program are you running to get that dock on the bottom? Very-OSX-esque. I think I might like that...

    ~ Brett

Edit: I seem to have found it. Is it Y'z Dock? I'll give it a try... see how it is for a while.

Personally I use NHC. It's better in my opinion.

    eh.

I have a button for power4gear. If there was a program that would let me re-map that button to NHC or somthing else, maybe id use that but as it is, i want all the buttons on my W3J to work haha.

Haha... another finicky person, just like me! I thought I was the only one who was like that... :D

Anyway, what I do is use a program called RMClock to undervolt my CPU. In doing so, I set CPU profiles... in addition to setting these CPU profiles, it lets me control the power profile too. I still keep Power4Gear around for screen brightness settings, though... (especially when on battery).

Yes, it is indeed Y'z Dock. It's a nifty little program... that is no longer in production/development (due to legal issues I believe). You can still find it all over the internet though...
