Hi everyeone, just wondering if I should use just either Power4Gear or Notebook Hardware Control or would running both have added advantage/disadvantages?

I would go with NHC. I've tried both and NHC allows a great deal more tweaking. Also on my P1-MX, which is based on the Asus M3np, an earlier version of NHC "Centrino Hardware Control" version 1.9 beta 2 permits me to control fan behavior. I have undervolted substantially resulting in a cooler quieter notebook. It's a great program.

I used both and power4gear is the one for me. NHC allows a lot more control, but it doesnt help me in anyway. The dynamic cpu throttling can only slow my cpu down to 988Mhz whereas power4gear on max battery takes it down to 385Mhz which gives me much better battery life and the performance is acceptable.

you could also try RM Clock, which will undervolt like NHC and also throttle like P4G
-
I've been reading about undervolting core duo's, and it seems Intel's locked it at a minimum 0.95v... hence no undervolting .... am I wrong?
-
lemme give rm clock a shot
-
How do you check what speed the CPU is running at?
-
hehe i tried all the above mentioned utilites and im back with pwr4gear, to check cpu clock speed use the windows built in perfmon. I dont know why but after all this installing/uninstalling and messing around with power settings my 3dmark has gone up to 3847 from 3831 lol.
-
you mean it went down from 3847 to 3831..
-
ha, i read it wrong first, too, but it went TO 3847 FROM 2=3831
-
nope its gone up, i dont know how/why myself, if it was like 3 - 5 points i wouldnt care, but thats a lil over 10 so i thought it was interesting
-
My 3DMark05 points also went down like 10-15 points after installing this program. But who cares anyway.

1 thing i dun like abt p4g is the presentation mode. i still remember my ASUS showed me a blue screen on the first few boot up becuz of the presentation mode...
