I've been having this problem since I got my v6va, but I kept forgetting to ask about it.. I can't get the screensaver to work on my v6va. I've checked the settings through the desktop, and the screensaver is set to start after 5 minutes, but it only ever works when I'm on battery and in Email/Office mode of Power4Gear (and even then it seems to take 10-15 minutes to activate).

I went through each of the configuration modes for Power4Gear, and all of them that control the screen saver have it set to turn on. Anyone have any ideas to what might be going on?

I just hacked the start up process and turned off Power4Gear so it doesn't load. Then use windows Power settings (in Ctrl Panel, Display, Screen Saver, Power) and no problems. S.S. comes on until the system goes into Standbye mode and HD powers down. There must be a conflict but I have never had it like you have because most of the start up stuff is clutterware and just steals resources so I have no tolerance for most of it. Too many duplications in control features brings trouble...

You can configure Power4Gear to turn the screen saver on. Just right click the icon in the tray and go to configure. Then pick the profile you want to change, then modify it how you would like, save your changes, and watch the stars fly by...

Ok, I turned Power4Gear off and configured the power settings to start the screensaver after 5 minutes and turn the monitor off after 15 minute, and go into standby after 20...

2 hours later and nothing happened. This is really getting frustrating. I've got some benchmark programs I need to run that will take 4+ hours to finish and I don't want my monitor burning out b/c the stupid screensaver won't turn on.

I'm going to give ASUS the benefit of the doubt and put the blame for this soley only Gates and M$. God this sucks....I won't be able to use this notebook for what I bought it for if I can't get the stupid screensaver to start working... *sigh* Okay, I'm done ranting.

Anyone have any ideas as to what could be preventing my SS from turning on?

Do you have any other programs running? (I.e Notebook Hardware Control, RMClock...etc.)
If so, those could be controlling your power settings.

If not, try reinstalling your ACPI drivers.
