I'm just going to make my own topic about this since this issue is dragging out longer than I would like. So here's what happened. I got GPU-Z downloaded and it showed showed my clocks at 500 and 799 during idle. So I went to download the Powermizer Switch found here, but it didn't seem to work. Hit the On button and, well nothing happened. So then I looked at the manual instructions on this page. I found the PerfLevelSrc registry, although I found it a little odd that the instructions said to change the 3333 setting to 3322 when mine was sitting at 2222. But anyway, I looked ahead to see if I could find the PowerMizer registries, which according to the instructions should have been right below PerfLevelSrc, but they aren't there. I glanced through the other 0000 folders and didn't see anything. Could I be missing the registry files?

2222=disabled powermizer
3333=enabled -
Thank you. >.>
I guess the Powermizer buttons aren't working. Have to change it manually, but I think it might be working. Going to try restarting. -
Okay, GPU-Z is still giving me the same clock numbers. >.>

Have you tried yelling at it?
-
I should. I'm too quiet. This computer is starting to own me. It's like being in Russia. ; ;
-
Make sure powermizerdefault is 1. -
That's the part I can't edit since the registry is apparently missing from what I can tell.
-
PowerMizerDefault 1

You're talking with a computer newb here. I don't have a clue about how to do that. >.>

You're very lucky 5150Joker has a lot more patience than me, haha.

Ha I'm feeling generous tonight because tomorrow is the last day of our neurology 12 hr review. Then I get to relax for a day and visit down town Chicago before the 12 hr/day review for biochemistry starts. -
I'll try it once I find the settings folder. >.> Is it still under Local Machine?
-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000\Settings
So yes it's under local machine. It shouldn't take you more 10 seconds to locate it. The {XXXXXXXXX} portion of the above key will be different for your machine. Just find the appropriate folders listed in the key above and you will be there. -
I don't see a place to enter that address so I searched through manually... I did find that {_} portion and found my way to Settings, but I'm not seeing much there. I don't see any "right box" to click on, but Right Click > New DWORD looks like it should work. I just want to make sure I'm in the right spot before I do anything.
Just did it anyway. Would I need to make more dwords for PowermizerEnable, Level, and LevelAC? -
In the same area as PerfLevelSrc, right click in the open white area next to PerflevelSrc, and select new->DWORD(32bit)->Name the new entry as PowerMizerDefault ->Then right click on the new PowerMizerDefault you just made-> click on the bold Modify... -> change the 0 to a 1 and make sure Hexadecimal is selected.
Then restart your computer and double check -
Anything else? No changes yet.

are you sure you're looking in the 'sensors' tab in GPU-Z? what kind of idle temps are you getting?
-
Yup. Looking at the Sensors tab in GPU-Z. Full readings at the moment would be:
Core Clock: 500 MHz
Memory Clock: 799 MHz
GPU Temperature: 64-65C -
So is there anything else I need to do?
-
try a different driver
-
A different driver? If that will help, maybe...
In other news, my GPU just peaked at 82C during regular internet browsing before steadily falling back down. It's at 70C right now and will hopefully drop back down to normal. Edit: Seems to be pretty comfortable with staying at 70C at the moment.
