When using vista u have used 186.42 nvidia drivers 186.81 and 186.82. I recently upgraded to windows 7 as you all probably have done. Are any of you guys experiencing sound stuttering when nvidias powermizer downclocks and upclocks? I have reformatted and also done basic driver upgrades downgrades... If i disable powermizer its fine so I'm wondering if you guys have found a cure to the problem.

to be honest to disable powermizer you can do it two ways which i havent done it the harder way. But download some drivers and find which one doesnt downclock ever. 186.81 doesnt downclock for me so you could try that or 186.81, since i have had no reason to go the other route i dont know how. Their is a thread about it somewhere ill try to find it for you

I have 186.81....so that doesn't cause these problems with the stuttering? I'd rather not go into my registry and start messing around. Definitely not something I'm comfortable with. lol

Is this the program you were trying to point me to? I downloaded the GPU-Z but didn't see anything on there about powermizer.

Also...will the powermizer switch program work with windows 7 and will it likely cause my GPU temps to be a little higher?

yes, your idle temps will be a bit higher, but nothing that will cause damage. The powermizer is more to make your battery more efficient. I am using windows 7 and i have tried it out; it does work. my idle temps are around 55-59C.

there should be a button when you open powermizer switch, it should have powermier off a/c / on battery, powermizer off, and powermizer on. You want to click the button that says powermizer off; it then will come up with a reboot now, once you reboot your good to go. Do the same to turn it back on by using powermizer on etc.

Weird....I clicked the button to turn it off and I didn't get any message saying to reboot. That's why I was asking how I would know if it was off. Guess it might not work with windows 7?

Alright...just tried this application again and got a message saying something about not allowing it to change anything in my registry. I didn't see this message nor the one to reboot the other night when I first tried it. lol

Turn off UAC, then try again.
