I'm looking to upgrade my W3V to 1gb of ram and I'm wondering what a really good price would be for a 512mb stick. I've seen 512mb Kensington DDR2 4200 for as low as $56. I've noticed that dram prices have been dropping significantly in the past 2 weeks so i'm wondering if i should just wait and see. Also, will there be a big difference between Corsair and Kensington ram performace-wise?

56 bucks is pretty cheap, most ram is about the same if their speed is the same just get it who cares. or go balling and get 2 1 gb sticks ;)

I'd use www.crucial.com as a measuring stick. It's high quality and near the top of the pricing scale.

yeah, i have crucial memory in my pc. However, W3V is not on the list of supported notebooks... W5a is but not W3V.

You just have to search for the right module, they're not the best at keeping up with all the machines, though I can't blame them.

Any other good sites to buy RAM from? I would always look at www.TigerDirect.com? But they don't show much for compatability.

I kinda dont quite understand, shouldt the additional ram be a pc4300 and not a pc4200.. w3v stock 512mb ram that came from the factory is a pc4300 am i not wrong? unless pc4200 rams are compatible with pc4300..

I don't think it will be much cheaper than $56.00 so I'd say go for it.

It's a typo. It says 533 there so it has to be PC4300.

I got 512 MB of the 533mhz ddr2 for about $61 KingstonRam from Kingston itself, then some discout from ebates.com on top of that, free shipping. link to kingston got you 10pct off anything I think... was going on for like 2 months, could still be around... bought mine about a month ago.
