I tried to find an answer in the forum, but can't find any.
Will notebooks preinstalled with Vista be more expensive than the same hardware, but with XP? I want to wait for Santa Rosa notebooks, but I don't use XP on my laptop, and I don't think I will be using Vista. I'm already quite unhappy to pay for a software I'm not using, so I don't want to pay even more.
Does the resellers know about the prices? I know it will probably be new notebooks, so the comparaison will be difficult. But February is here soon, and I wonder if waiting is a mistake. I wish I could buy a notebook without any OS... I know some manufacturers propose it (Zepto for instance), but my top list don't.

Hi Jim.
I wish I could... But here in France, you cannot. At least not for individuals. -
For barebone notebooks, such as ASUS, Compal, Clevo, etc. you do not need to buy the OS.

Hi Coriolis. Means that you turn in the same direction according to your position on the globe ?
Once again, I wish it was possible in France. ALL the offers I look at, both on internet and in shops, are including Windows. I want a refund! :::>_<::: If I buy it abroad, then there is the keyboard problem, etc... etc... Does someone manage to do it from France? With paying more? -
I have a part of the answer I guess... Some resellers in France begin to add notebooks installed with Vista in their catalog. There is a price difference between 30 and 50€. From XP Pro / MC to Vista Premium.
Grrrrr. Will make it a bit less interesting to wait for Santa Rosa, even if the difference is not huge. I should maybe try to get a refund for the OS if I refuse the EULA. But seems to be time consuming -
Chat with the dealers, I'm sure they won't deny a customer, I know there has been members here whom bought barebones from North American dealers and they reside out of the country.
