I have the Asus ul30vt laptop which I bought a year ago.

The screen has a dim part at the lower right corner.

Any ideas how I would go about fixing this? I didn't register for the warranty. It was my first laptop. I didn't know I had to register to use the warranty.

Here is the laptop screen. I opened up a full screen white image that I've drawn with MS paint:

Here it is zoomed in to the lower right corner of the screen:

Couple more images that might help the experts deduce what the problem might be:

I know sending this in to a local computer shop would be very expensive. Please help me. Thank you

Ul30vt uses a wled screen. It seems like a led is broken in the right corner of the screen. You cant fix this without replacing the whole screen, as I doubt the leds can be replaced compared to their CCFL counterparts.

You can find cheap screens for this model on ebay. Like this one ASUS UL30JT UL30VT LED LCD SCREEN 13.3" | eBay

    Cheers.

    Thanks for the response, simplified.

Do you know if replacing the screen would solve the problem? Because I've heard somewhere on the internet about inverter boards behind laptop screens that control the backlight leds. I don't really understand about that.

I just want to know if I do buy and replace the screen according to manuals, it would actually resolve the issue.

It stands to reason that if the board behind was defective, more or all of the screen would not illuminate. A replacement screen is still the best solution.

    I see. Thanks, Toxictaru.

I guess I'll be buying a screen replacement soon.

If you have a model with a 2 year warranty, it does not matter if you didn't register. As long as you have the retail receipt you should be OK. You can still register on vip.asus.com. Otherwise they will go by the production date which is the start of the serial number.

LED backlit screens do not have inverters. Inverters are for CCFL backlit screens.
