    thanks for reply.
i deleted my partition so many times for installing Linux, now i need to come back to windows 7 ,with my backup , so i can update it to windows 8.
i dont want to buy another license , all i want to do is to use my backup image. so the answer to your first question is no.
    any other suggestions ?

There is no need to buy a license if you have your activation backed up you can restore it once you load win 7, or you can use the code on the sticker that came with your laptop. (I assume it shipped with 7 installed)

windows 7 install code sticker - Bing Images
There are programs you can use to backup the activation and restore it when needed or you can just call Microsoft to activate. When I get home I will be glad to post the program I have used successfully in the past.

I don't think said programs will work since they reference the registry, and his Windows OS partition is long gone in place of having Linux. Jelly Bean key finder and Product KeyFinder etc., all scan the Windows registry for licenses - they don't refer to the built in SLIC/OA within BIOS for it.

OP: Do you have the OA sticker at least on your laptop? If you have that (see JOSEA's post), then you can do a fresh install of Windows using the .iso he linked you to (see the digital river link), copy the .iso to installation media, and then install Win 7 using that.

I had the same problem as you and I solved it (well, i didn't solve it by myself) using an external partitioning program, 'cause the 1029 error is sign of a corrupted partition table. I don't know exactly how, but i think it's a bootable program (and i don't know its name) that you can flash from the boot menu with a usb pen. I hope this will be useful also for you, because it's the solution we all needed to solve this problem.
