    Problem on Z70V... Ideas?

    well updated audio... nothing... >_< still have 2 try it with my friends and see the result... but !@# drakon u luky bastard if this doesnt work... or maybe ill have to fresh install... but :( i like my baby the way it is now...

    scott, I don't suggest you reinstall windows, because from the looks of it you just have a model that is not capable of working with that controller.

    Just try to find out which revision it is and get one that is the same as drak0n.

    Well Mike I only suggested a reinstall as a last resort. Just trying to rule out things (sw related). If after a reinstall, the card still doesn't work, then scott can firmly conclude that his card isn't working with the controller. I'm guessing most of the current cards out there now are the new revisions (ie. longer models). And going off the s/n doesn't seem to be a full proof solution, because every card has a different s/n.

    some guy on the forums listed also fresh installed and it cleared up and he had a "black listed" driver 2... maybe ill try that if all else fails... seems like hit and miss with the "black listed" drivers and creative seems in no rush to begin to care about issuing a driver to address the issue... >_<.... maybe ill just try to return it and get the "blister pack" thing .... where did u buy ur card from neway? best buy?

    Here is what the blister pack looks like. And Scott, I bought mine from Zipzoomfly.com. They were the cheapest. A word of caution though, their customer service isn't the best. I bought stuff many times from them in the past, but this is the 1st time I've got to return anything and I wasn't very pleased with the service. The rep was giving me the run-around when I was asking about having the card replaced with a new one. Will call back on Mon to see if I get another rep and get this resolved.

    thats not really a box though... mine i think actually came in like a box not covered by plastic... so i think that would be a blister pack.... i guess? dunno... i didnt even see my full packaging my bro had taken it appart but it was inside what i think was inside the shell of the box... (smaller box... :p)

    Mike, unless the online retailer specifically says which version it is, then the only way to know which version they're selling is to call and ask. If you're buying it at a local store, then you can see which one is available yourself :)

    Btw, the pics I posted is the blister pack. Everything comes in that little package.

    I just compared the picture in the Amazon.com site to the picture of the one at Canada Computers and it's the same one, with the audigy sticker facing horizontally, so I guess that's the one.

    Hope it works, but before I buy I'm asking if I can return it if it doesn't work. I hope they say yes.

    So maybe the stickers don't really tell us which one is newer? The picture on the Amazon site is the same as the canadacomputers.com link, dang.

    So the Blister Pack version is with the sticker width wise like in the www.thesourcecc.com picture eh?

    No it ain't. I got an email from Canada Computers about the soundcard and they said if I return it because it just doesn't work with my laptop I have to pay the 15% restocking fee.

    Dang it I've bought so much stuff from them and they can't give me a break? Dayam. I emailed them back and asked if I could return it without the restocking fee because I've bought so much stuff from them and that I'd show them receipts if needed. :D

    I wish drak0n would let me borrow his soundcard to see if it works on my system and then return it to him. This way I could be sure.

    Haha, don't think that's possible, bud. I'm trying to get this thing replaced ;) Besides, like I said earlier from what I've read the cards that come in the blister pack (plastic) are the revised versions. Just call them and ask if they have those, Mike.

    Well folks, I got tired of waiting for your results, so I went ahead and bought it from Best Buy today (What can I say? I'm impatient :D ). Anyway, it came in the plastic thingy and works perfectly fine on my Z70Va. If you have any more questions, just ask.

    What about the sticker on the unit itself? lettering goes the length of the unit or width of the unit?

    They have it listed at 169.99 which is WAY overpriced since Canada Computers has it at 99.99.

    Just so you guys at Creative know, your updated Blister pack version of
    the Audigy 2 ZS Notebook PCMCIA soundcard does work with the RICOH
    controller in the Asus Z70Va, so it must work with other notebooks with

    That last guy who got it working sold it for me so I'm going to get one for sure scott.

    I suggest you do the same and get a replacement for yours to the blister pack.

    i will im having some issues getting onto the account with which it was purchased... hopefully they will take the return... otherwise its on Ebay... but yeah it seems the blister pack = the solution... !@# creative though... customer support = abysmal...

    FINALLY TOOK THE PLUNGE~!

    I went out as soon as I had the cash and spent it on one of these bad boys, instead of using the money to drink.

    Can't believe I did that, but I did.

    Now I just have to wait for my laptop to come in after it gets serviced.

    My reseller says Asus has my baby right now and should be in early next week.

    I can't wait. I hope it works for me like it did you drak0n and the other guy.

    Edit:: Oh yeah, did you guys get a hardcase with it or a ****py plastic sleeve thingy?

    Yes, that is the carrying case. How sad. I thought the carrying case was a hard plastic shell. What a jip on that part~!

    So you guys are still having no problems running your cards in ADVANCED MODE eh?

    I have a couple questions for you guys. Aren't you scared you're going to break the thing? It feels so delicate and weak. Looks like aluminum to me so it might bend eh?

    Hrm... I don't remember any seran wrap. *Shrug* Oh well, doesn't bother me much. Anyway, I'm gentle with the thing, so I'm not too worried. I also run it in advanced mode just fine, so err... don't know where you got that from.

    To be honest, I think the build quality could be much better. The thing feels really flimsy. I sent mine back because it had some cracks in it, and I have no idea how that happened. I didn't do, that's for sure. A rep as ZZF said that they can't replace it, because they don't accept "damaged" returns. Voids the return policy. He also said that he'll try to send it to Creative to see if they'll replace it. Such BS with ZZF! Anyways, check out the cracks below:

    Btw, no offense Mike, but I think you're a little too paranoid. I've told you before that I didn't have any problems with it; even showed you a pics of it installed, and working in Advanced mode. The only way you'll know if yours is working is if you try it out when your laptop returns. So relax! ;)

    That's such bs when resellers do stuff like that. I guess I can kind of understand because they don't know if you did it or not, but still sucks how they say, no we can't accept damaged goods, but you didn't do it.

    Hey you guys know how I got my soundcard a couple weeks ago right?

    Well I got my notebook back today~!!!

    I already posted my joy with this thing in the ACCESSORIES section of this site, so go check it out, but yeah, this thing is great.

    IT'S FULLY FUNCTIONAL, NO WEIRDNESS~! I think, since I have nothing to compare it to, but it's working in advanced mode, and I set everything up, so it's working.

    Music sounds freakin' terrific on this thing, WOW, THE BASS. :D

    Thanks lefty~! It was you that got me going because you just couldn't wait and got one, but it worked~!

    I know Drak0n had his working, but I was still skeptical since only he had it working.

    Hey did your installation of the software and drivers get rid of the default windows sound icon/software? I don't like this Creative Sound Control as a replacement, but no big deal. Also when you have headphones plugged in can you control your volume level with your notebook's FN+ function to change the volume? I can't.

    Sound is great, bass is just ridiculous~! hahaahha

    I have to turn down the bass when using my notebook's speakers because the frequency is out of range for the tiny speakers so it distorts.

    Oh yeah guys, since you have the M6 series notebooks I suggest removing the dummy card in the media reader before inserting your soundcard because it seems to get in the way and comes in contact with the card itself when installed. This might be how drak0n cracked his casing. Slight annoyance, but no big deal.

    Feedback guys that have it working, I wanna see how it's working out for you.

    Hmm, it doesn't do that for me. Mines has both the realtek controls and creative controls running at the same time. Also, I cancontrol the volume from the Fn keys just fine. Have you tried the updated drivers from creative ?
