I have a nearly 3 year old Asus U36J laptop. About 5 weeks ago, I opened the laptop after previously closing it (as i always do to put it into sleep mode) and it wouldn't power on. Nothing, no power light or anything.

I left it lying around for about a month until I took it to a local tech a week ago who took a quick 10 min look at it and concluded it was probably a motherboard issue. However, when assessing the issue, he noticed the blue power light when on for about 1/2 second and then nothing.

Today, I opened it up, removed the battery and PRESTO it turned on!!!! Not only that, it was in the EXACT same state it was when I had last used it 5 weeks ago!!!!!

However, I made the mistake of shutting it down

Then, after several tries, it booted up again randomly...only to shut down on it's own again! The only thing I did really was open up the laptop and disconnect/reconnect that blue ribbon near the memory.

If anyone has any advice I'd greatly appreciate it!

    THANKS!
