    Hey,

I m having problem with my cd/dvd-drive. I was checking some files on my dvd-r and it suddenly the folder frozen. I tried to go back to previous folder and nothing happened. Then I did the usual things "ctrl+alt+del" to end task in "task manager". Afterward, I put the dvd+r in but it displayed "Disk is not formatted: Windows cannot read from this disk. This disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compartible with Windows". I switched to cd-rw but it did not work neither. I just don't know what to do. I was thinking to use system restore to handle but waiting for response. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Thats weird. Are non of the disks being read, or can you not burn them or something? try system restore first, and then see what happens.

Did you try to put any movie DVD disc in ? Is it ok if you put a regular CD, or CD-R to read and copy some files ? Just narrow down the problem on the disc format or the optical drive so that to recongize a DVD disc is no any problem at all.
    Cheers

    Thanks for replies so far.

After i restart my computer, it does read but i don't hear the sound of the drive running like i used to hear. I hear it trying to load and read the disc. First time, i can get into the disc folders for like three minutes and then it just disable the drive (somehow) and i cannot open anything in the folder. I try to access the drive but it say "please insert a disk into drive". I need to restart again use drive again for like three minutes.
I tried movie dvd, music cd, cd-r, dvd-rw, and dvd-r .. but all them show the same problem.

Seems like theres a problem with the optical drive, or the interface on the drive.
