I have an Asus X53E. The problem I'm having is that the right click button doesn't "click". The button technically functions, but it doesn't make that "click" sound or feel.

Is this something that can be easily repaired? Is it the whole touchpad or just the click button?

    Thanks

This symptom is caused by a bad assembly job when combing the C and D panels (C = keyboard/touchpad surface, D = bottom chassis).
It can be fixed by recombining the touchpad assembly but it's a lot of work. Best to contact ASUS to get a RMA# to send it in if the unit is under warranty.

    Thanks for the reply.

Does it seem odd that a possible bad assembly job shows up after maybe a year and a half? Given the age, I don't believe the laptop is under warranty any longer. Could a local PC repair shop tackle this problem?

Some laptops may have 2-year warranty, so best if you double check with them directly.
In the touchpad assembly, there's a plastic push pin that goes onto the button, something went wrong with this assembly.
It is possible that you may or may not need to change parts.
