    Hey guys,

Today I noticed that my Asus F3SC battery (Asus A32-F3) just suddenly lost at least 50% of it's power. I looked around and noticed that Asus isn't new to battery problems but I didn't see any of the F3S series on the list with having the problems. My laptop can only run 40 min. max on battery saving mode as opposed to an hour and half before. Will Asus replace my battery without any problems? I tried calibrating the battery but I couldn't in the BIOS as it's not included. I live in the U.S but I bought the laptop in Hong Kong. Will that cause any problems? Also, I don't have the original receipt ( I think it's still in HK with my aunt). Any suggestions guys? Thanks!

How old is your notebook? If it's more than 6months for instance, they might argue it's normal wear pattern (although it's not by your description -- btw did it indeed lose the power 'suddenly' or did it happen over time?).

if you do try to RMA, maybe have your aunt scan the receipt and send the scan via email? That should be enough for ASUS repair center.

As to calibration: you can do it "manually", turn off the alarms (i.e. automatic standby/shutdown on low battery charge), let the battery discharge to empty (until the computer turns off), then charge it to full. Restart Windows. Your new max charge reading should be correct (calibrated) now.

Nice. :) Glad you solved the problem (no real reason for them not to accept an exchange though, batt is still under warranty)
