I just got my G1s a couple days ago and I was excited to play some games, mostly DoD and Half-Life 2 for right now (I'll be getting Oblivion soon).

Anyway, everything is great except for the Control key when I'm playing games. When I press it, any character/number key that i press afterwards opens up a text-like box in the upper right corner and it records what I type. There are also random asian characters that pop up in the text box. It slows performance to a halt and makes games unplayable. This only happens if I press the Ctrl key. The only games I have right now are DoD, TFC, Half-Life 2, etc (all the Half Life stuff) and this error occurs in every game.

Any idea what this is and how to fix it? It is extremely irritating to spend this much money on a notebook (my first laptop/notebook ever) and have an error like this.

I forgot to add; I updated to the 163.44 drivers and still got the error, then I tried the 163.11 drivers and still have the error. I don't know what else to try.

It seems like you may not have your vista language set properly.

Type in 'language' in the start search to pull up 'regional and language options'

make sure everything is set to English (US)

Alright, I went to Regional and Language Options, then went to the 'Keyboards and Languages tabs and clicked on the Change Keyboards button. Both the United States keyboard and Chinese keyboard were in that little box. I removed the Chinese one and things seem to work perfectly now! I'll keep playing tonight to make sure, but I'm optimistic. Thanks for your help.
