I just sent a Z84Jp to my friend and he's reporting audio lag when using multiple programs. Specifically, when using Xfire voice chat City of Heroes will either suffer audio lag or produce no audio at all. If Gaim is open too, it's audio performs normally. Any suggestions? The laptop is brand new with the drivers installed off the included CD -- it's running XP Pro SP2.

I can't say where's the problem comes from. Probably it might be because of his internet lag and causes the voice chat to lag.

Does the sound produce properly while listening to music.? the sound card of Asus is not a Creative 5.1 sound card , so if you play games which supports EAX or something similar, just turn those off. Leave the sound settings default. Also, please check the Realtek audio manager and set it to heaphone or line out mode instead of SPDIF.

There might be a fault in Z84J notebook, who knows.

He's got a 4mbps connection and the ping to his voice chat server is only 70, so I don't think internet lag is to blame. He also doesn't have music on it yet. I'll pass on your suggestions though.

Apparently the problem only occurs when using a USB headset... so problem mostly solved
