    Hi, Everyone.

I have a serious problem with my Asus M2400C. When I try to turn it on, the screen does nothing. The screen doesn't work.
Any suggestions about what is the problem and what is to be done with it?

    Thanks.

The fan is running all the time. The HDD indicator is not running. Capslock and Numlock indicators are running all the time. The system does not boot.

One more thing. When I connected my notebook to external monitor the monitor didn't turn on either.

Sorry, but I have no experience with Asus units.

But on my POS Sager, When the lights flashed and the fan ran constantly it was time to clean the fan and the vents. When the lights and fan remained on, constantly...my motherboard was toast.

lights refer to caps and numlock.

RAM, check your ram...... if you're not getting a bios screen... and hooking up an external monitor does nothing, it's most likely your RAM. The system wants to start, there is hard drive activity.... so the cpu and hard drive seem fine... I'd also venture to say the lcd is fine since you're not getting anything on the external monitor....... the only way that would be the case is if the integrated graphics chip died and you don't often see that on integrated solutions.

The graphics card is not integrated. It's Radeon 9000. So you think it's all about a graphics card or RAM. Thanks for reply.

The radeon 9000 isn't dedicated, is it? The system uses an ati 9000 chipset but it shares system ram, no?

Either way, I believe it's the ram without being able to actually take a look at it.

The M2400C uses the ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON™ 7500 4X AGP 3D Graphics Accelerator with 32MB EMBEDDED DDR Memory.

Justin is correct in suggesting to check the RAM first, that is the most likely problem. Is it beeping when it is trying to boot?

However if you are not getting anything on your POST screen, it could also be your VGA controller on the motherboard has failed. You won't even get to the discrete video card's operation until after you have passed the POST screen.

Yes check your ram first. If you have 2 modules swap em one at a time. If that dont help its your mobo. When the mobo breaks it does a similar thing. I never dealt with the 2400 but i ve had this same issue with the compal cl56 about 5 times in the last 4 months. 4 out of 5 times it was the mobo. once it was the ram. Then again i saw the same thing with ram that was not inserted right. After reincertion it works fine,.
