I've had a constant problem with Vista for a while whenever I boot my ASUS A8JM. My CPU usage spikes to near 100% (especially when on battery saving mode) for ~20 seconds and RAM usage spikes up 20%. during this time, I can't change my power plan in the taskbar as only a white box is present where the options should be (Power Saver, Balance, High Performance).

I formatted and I only have the sound card, video card, and INF update drivers installed along with NOD32. Now my gadgets on windows sidebar take longer to appear, while the spikes still occur and power plan window plan choices take long to appear.

Could it be any of the drivers I installed that is causing this problem? I'm seriously considering going back to XP.

    Thanks
