Hi im new to asus notebooks
I got a asus X53Sseries (F3SG)with 4g ram , Duo T5550 1,84ghz, Geforce 9300m g , Vista Premium. At first it was fine was mostly on AC. The 6cell battery didn´t last long 1hr and 30 min on battery save and 45min on high performance. Got a 9cell 7200mAh battery.

The problem started when i want to play a game on battery power. Every game i try lags even games that dont need that much graphics.( like Vistas Chess Titans). Lags like crazy and so does the sound.

I have Power4Gear and it set to high performance. Every thing is set to high. But still everything lags. The lag stop after i plug in the AC.

The manual says "True-to-Life Gaming" Cant see that when everything lags :p

Got the blue green of death too when casting a spell in World of warcraft and when making a move in Chess titans (On battery power)

    DRIVER_POWER....something

The notebooks is 1 month old now and the problems are starting to pop up.
    Are these problems common?

I wanted to get a F5 series with ati hd3470 laptop but the shop said that the X53 was better

Asus has a history of forcing underclock of the gpu when on battery power. However, I don't recall hearing about them doing this in the lower end 84xx/93xx series - it sounds like that's what you're experiencing, though, given your description of the problem resolving when you plug it back in.

P4G only affects the cpu settings, it does nothing and has no effect on the gpu. To force the gpu up on battery power, you probably need to try something like RivaTuner to get it to "overclock" back up to stock settings when you want to game on battery. You also might try posting a new thread with title of graphics lag on batter in the F3, or post a question in the F3 Owner's Lounge thread in the subforum at the top of the main forum page.

The battery life you discuss is typical and expected for Asus' notebooks, esp if you are running full brightness lcd.

Rivatuner does not work. It does not allow overclocking. I can set a different clock speed but as soon as i press apply it jumps back to def. settings.

Well gone get the notebook back from the shops repair. They found nothing to be wrong. They are saying that i need to reinstall the OS. Cant be the OS or can it? As i said the graphic is down clocked but riva tuner shows that every clock is running at standard speed.

Should i just demand for a other notebook ?

Not just yet. First, try disabling powermizer. The GPU downclocks automatically on battery to save power on battery -- regardless of the Power4Gear setting. There is an option in the nVidia Control Panel to turn off PowerMizer. You may need to switch to Advanced mode for the GUI.

    RivaTuner cannot always be trusted.

If that doesn't do it, search for PowerMizer Switch. That should help with turning off PowerMizer.

Still, in general I'd recommend against gaming on battery. Try to do it when plugged in.

    OK ill try it.

Well gaming i know is better on AC but i cant even use 3D with autocad. That i have to use on battery when in class.
