I have Asus A6L notebook, and i have this problem: When I leave the machine for a little time and the screensaver goes on then the fan goes real loud. When i touch any key so that notebook comes active again, the fan stops humming. It's really annoying, because if I want to leave the machine on and not to shut down it, the fan noise isn“t fun and i bet it wares down the fan too.

Is there some setting I could change or is there some driver that could cause this?

I would disable the screensaver (set it to none) and just let the display switch itself off after a period of inactivity (this is under the power management options). Screensavers are a left-over from the days of CRT displays when a constant unchanging image could progressively burn the screen. You will also get a longer running time when on battery operation.

Also im not sure why the fans would kick into high speed while a screen saver is on? Is your screen saver too GPU intensive? As John said remove the screen saver.

You may want to clean the vents, use compressed air and blow out the vents, because there may be alot of Dust, Lint, and Hair.

    Thanks,
