I hope this is the right place to post this.

I have a problem with my built-in speakers and headphones, usually when plugging the headphones in, the sound from the speakers should go off, problem with my notebook is: they do not. I get sound from both headphones and speakers, I tried connecting the headphones to all of the sockets as well as tried using other headphones. Someone on the official asus forum suggested to send the notebook to asustech to reapir it. Funny thing is i just bought the notebook a couple of days ago and wouldnt want to send it for repair, especially that i need for work.

Is there any way to turn off the built-in speakers but still be able to listen to music from the headphones? Anyone got a suggestion? :(

The switch from internal speakers to headphones is usually a hardware managed feature. If you have Windows Vista you might try tinkering with the audio properties in Control Panel on the offchance it is trying to use the headphone jack to do 5.1 surround sound and for whatever reason isn't disabling the internal speakers.

Still, I'd say it comes back to there being a problem with the 3.5mm headphone jack. It's understandable you don't want to send the brand new laptop back, but if there is a hardware problem now would be a good time to get it taken care of.

Maybe when you update the sound card driver,
    problen will be solved.
