Hey all, I have an Asus Z70VA equipped with the dual-layer optical drive. More specifically, the TSSTcorp CD/DVDW L532A. I just tried burning an image from Alcohol 120%, but it just wouldn't do it. I didn't actually get an error message but the status basically just said the disc was empty, and the timer kept going while nothing happened. I then tried burning random files with Windows Explorer, but it refused to even create temporary copy files to the disc drive. The files would copy if there was no disc in the drive, but once I inserted the disc, the files would disappear. I'm using Maxell 8X DVD-Rs (I don't think TY though). Any help would be appreciated!

Edit: If it helps, the drive reads those Maxell discs fine.

Have you tried using Nero, which I expect is the supplied writing software? I had the TS-L532A in my W3A and installed Roxio 7, because that is what I was used to, and produced lots of coasters. I then changed over to Nero and had no more problems.

Nero, Nero, Nero.... I don't know if the Maxell discs are on Asus' compatibility list, but Fuji discs aren't and that's all I use...... you just have to find software and discs that will work for you.

Did you try to use another brand-name blank disc with nero to burn??

One time i experience to use a Pioneer 109 DVD burner, it cannot recognize Maxell disc, then i change a LG 4165, then it work fine.

Hit the nail right on the head. Installed Nero and it worked great. I just find it hard to believe that it simply refuses to burn (nevermind coasters) with any other program. Oh well, I generally use Nero for most of my burning needs anyway. Thanks for the help guys!
