Hi everyone
So here my problem: I tried to (without the use of an optical disk) install another Version (and cleaner version) of Windows XP on my Asus Netbook. I used a program to allow my USB pen drive to bootable and allow me to install from there. So everything was going smoothly until, on reboot, it decided that my "W" drive was corrupt, why this was an issue I have no idea.
The night slowly got more and more frustrating and the long and short of it is thus:
I took the damn thing apart (done it before, no problems with competency in this), removed the HDD, stuck it in a caddy, used some software to delete the new partition I'd created for the newer XP OS I planned on installing, leaving only the working version of XP behind. Placed the HDD back into my netbook and received the same problem, that it couldn't boot at all and kept asking me to try and set up another version of Windows XP.
So to cut to the present: I decided to order an external DVD drive to so that I can install a fresh copy via a CD (which seems to be the only real smart way of going about it in the first place). In the mean time I decided to completely wipe and format the HDD, place it back in my netbook (again) and see if that's made any difference, perhaps by sheer luck i could convince it to work now.... only to realize I now have an over sized USB drive in my hands not a HDD which will boot a netbook.
My Asus is currently staring at me with a blank black screen, not even lit, without any sign of HDD use at all... though I know it's not faulty as I've already tested it for file browsing etc.
So to summarise:
I've got a netbook HDD which is not responding to the Netbook it is in
It's blank
What should I do in order to get it useable again?
This all probably sounds quite laughable but hey, we all make mistakes, and I hate Windows XP
