I just got a F3JP a couple of days ago and ordered an extra 1GB of RAM, which I thnk has gone bad on me. The RAM I added was Corsair PC2 5300 DDR2 667 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145012). When I installed it, it was immediately recognized by the BIOS and things seemed to be fine.

However, after a few hours Vista locked up on me while doing some Windows updates. I did a hard shut down to unlock it, but Windows would not load afterwards. It kept loading the Startup Repair tool, which was unable to repair the problem. Since I was in the middle of downloading Windows updates, I really thought I had some sort of software conflict. I tried using the Recovery CD and it wouldn't load either. Finally, I thought maybe my RAM was bad. I removed the RAM and the Recovery CD worked!

After running the full recovery, I decided to experiment a little. I added the extra RAM back in, and Windows again wouldn't load. To test whether the problem was the RAM or motherboard, I replaced the original RAM with the Corsair stick. Again, Windows wouldn't load. As soon as I reinstalled the original RAM, Windows loaded again. The last thing I did was update the BIOS to v207, but that didn't have any affect. I have never had RAM go bad on me, but, at this point, I can't think of any other reason for my problems. Would you agree that my RAM has gone bad? Any other suggestions?

I would agree, one of the most common things to go wrong with new ram is that it could go bad, but luckily newegg is extremely good with RMA and this process.

It happens all the time, many people here experience it and share their experiences. Just send it back to Newegg and you will be taken care of.

I just got a F3Jp a week ago and some extra RAM from NewEgg. I went with the JetRam and haven't had any problems. Sounds like you have a bad module though, so yea contact newegg.

Yep.. that's a bad RAM case.. Don't see you having any trouble getting it replaced. Most RAM modules have a lifetime warranty.
