I have an asus ul80jt, which is an i5 model. I run windows 7 64 bit and have installed service pack 1 and IE9. Unfortunately, it seems that IE9 doesn’t display anything. It seems as if IE9 thinks it has loaded the page, but I just cannot view it – it’s just blank. I have narrowed the cause to the nvidia drivers. I am currently using 8.16.11.8964. The problem seems to be resolved by upgrading the nvidia drivers to the latest 8.17.12.5741 available on the asus website, but the computer crashes when playing vlc. I get a continuous noise from whatever was playing at the time and the machine hangs.

Checking on the internet, it seems as if there is some sort of clash between the optimus system and ie9. Does anyone have any information on this?
At the moment, I am using the older display driver with firefox, but would be grateful for anyone with some bright ideas regarding this. I have also tried installing drivers from the nvidia homepage, but without success.

    Thanks in advance.

Somewhat off-topic: Do you have to use IE9? Why not another browser? Have you tried ff, opera, ie8 etc?

You're correct. I don't have to use IE9 and I am currently typing this with firefox. However, it annoys me that I don't have the choice :D
