It should be possible. If at the moment, you have a a Core Duo, you may need a BIOS update to upgrade to a Core 2 Duo. I'm not sure if the notebook supports the Core 2 Duo processor, but it is physically possible, since the processor is pin-compatible. If you ae upgrading within a series, for example from a T2300 to a T2X00, then it is possible. It is a simple matter of taking the older one out, and inserting the new one. Bear in mind, that it will void the warranty.

both milestonepc and btotech allowed customization for the v6j, so if anyone would know, they would know....

It is possible to upgrade the V6J's CPU to a C2D, but this would void your warranty.

My year warranty is up in April so I am not worried about that. I am wondering which core2 I can go with. Do I need to stick with the same GHz as I have now. Right now I have the T2300 1.66.

I know that there is a Core2 T5500 also at 1.66 GHz. Is that the one to go with? Would a faster one be compatible with my system?

    Thanks for the help!

The T7200 is dirt cheap compared to the T7400 and T7600

Yes...but my question is can I use that one? The T7200 runs at 2.13GHz and my system currently uses the T2300 which runs at 1.66GHz.

Will that faster cpu work with my system?

It should. I can't find any reasons why not. The latest V6J bios supports all C2D to date

You will need a BIOS update to accomodate the Merom chip upgrade, else it should run fine. Merom was pin-compatible with Yonah motherboards, just needed a BIOS update to work correctly, and that was why some folks were buying systems at the time with the lowest possible Yonah chip and then planned to upgrade to Merom later on. The new clock speed is irrelevant to functionality (i.e. any of the 7 series cpus will work in the V6j), but there is the possibility that the system could run hotter than with your current cpu with the higher clock speed.

Yes, the notebook should be able to support that processor, or any other Core 2 Duo. If it says in the BIOS details, something like "Core 2 Duo Support" or "Merom Support", then any Core 2 Duo processor will work in the system.
