I was wondering if I could put the best Core 2 Duo chip in my z96j and have it work with no problems? I remember when Core 2 first came out people said you could, but has it changed with the newest ones?

No, it is the same as the first ones that were available. You can upgrade the processor, but you may require a BIOS update depending on whether the notebook was sold before Core 2 Duo was available. Bear in mind, that it may void your warranty.

why would you upgrade a T2500, it is going to cost alot of $$$ to get something that will be as fast in a core2 like the 7200 or 7400 and they are a few hundred dollars, i would just keep what you got, its fast. but then again if you have that kind of money go for it.

Put the $$ in the bank unless there is a specific reason you need a 64-bit instruction set.
