Pros: it's a very good unit.

Cons: people who don't bother to research and read will have a very hard time configuring it to their liking and fixing the minor glitches/problems.

Not all laptops are made equal, you're going to have to tell us which model you're actually looking at before we can deliver pros and cons.

Not really a gaming-class notebook, so you may find more users familiar with that model in the regular Asus forums.

    Pros:
-Two-year warranty including one-year accidental damage warranty (most others only offer one-year)
-Second highest rated brand for laptop reliability (after Apple) and high marks for customer satisfaction ( PC World 2010 reader survey)

    Cons:
-Huge number of models, some are great, others are not. Do your research first.
-Many models only available online / hard to find in-store

...of course you could add a lot more to this list

The question isn't necessarily if it is a good notebook or if Asus is a good brand (although I would say it is), but is it good for what you want a notebook to do. It would help to fill out the What Notebook Should I Buy form and post it there, with a note that this is the unit you are considering. That will get you feedback both from Asus owners and options from other brands to consider.
