    • How does it compare to the Dell XPS 1530?
    • How is Asus' support?

    Thanks in Advance!

Do not double post but I understand what you are trying to do you could have just put it all under the What notebook should I buy. Anyway like I said the Dell XPS 1530 has a much better 3D mark score 06 then the Asus G1S. I heard mixed things about the Asus support.

As far as I know, the Dell XPS 1530 score that was done in the review was at a resolution of 1280x800 and not at 1280x1024. I think that is the reason why the XPS had a higher score in 3dmark06. So far I havent seen numbers at comparable resolutions....

In any case, don't bother too much about 3D mark scores -- they are just synthetic benchmarks, often different from the real-life performance (in the sense that a 2-300 points difference hardly makes any real-life meaningful difference).

ASUS support is very good in the US, in other parts -- well, it depends on the country. :)

Let's see, support. Support is garbage. Go to their official site to update your VGA driver to only find that it's glitched and after it uninstalls your previous drivers it gives you an error saying you must have and only have Vista 32xbit installed so it will not install the drivers. (Keeping in mind it COMES with 32bit)...

After that, none of your games will run the same anymore. That goes for even after you reinstall it's original drivers from the software disc they provide.

Yea i think Asus has better service than dell..my friend send his notebook in for screen servicing and the problem came back after a few weeks..and of ur from US Asus even gives 1 year ACCIDENTAL warranty and Asus is really strict about their "quality" saw the interview on the news..they even show how the test the laptop for quality. Actually its really up to you, ur the one gonna use it.

Yes, the website is not really well organized, I don't know how it compares to other brands because I haven't used any others :).

By support I mainly meant warranty service.

Asus support is one of the few that I've never had to use. However, that probably stems from me using less Asus(es)(Asi?) than more mainstream brands.

I haven't had the need to contact Asus support yet (touchwood). But after doing a fresh vista install, I was able to download and install all the drivers, including the VGA drivers with no problems whatsoever...
I have seen at least one person complain about the website being down 'all the time'. But I have had no such experience...

Um... the same goes for any laptop manufacturer... none of them have really up to date drivers on their sites. Everyone should use the newest ones (at least Nvidia) from laptopvideo2go.com

Also, their support is quite awesome. In the US they pay for the 2nd day air shipping...just make sure you have an extra box laying around. Service is quick, and I only had one problem...they shipped back a screen that was even worse. But now, its fine.
