So, when the time comes will you purchase another ASUS or will it be another brand?
-
Just picked up a Macbook. I guess its still an ASUS in some regard...they are one of the OEMs. Reason for the switch was based on my want and need for OSX over XP for work...my wife still has an Asus, but she may switch to a an apple this year too...she likes mine so much!

I'd still purchase another Asus, but i'll probably never pre-order an unrealeased product again.

SaferSephiroth The calamity from within
I was all set for getting an apple this time around but there were too many issues with the switch. I bought an asus instead and it's doing well. Next time im hoping apple won't disappoint.

I cant see any reason I wouldn't buy Asus again. I have been really happy, even with issues like the battery wear, this computer is leaps and bound better than any other I have every used.
-
Indeed I would, in fact I intend to. I have another sister graduating from HS in a year and a half and she will need laptop. She already likes my Z33 a lot, so...
-
Well, I don't have an Asus yet in the first place
but I'm almost certain that I'll be sticking with it for a while as long as they continue to roll out quality, nicely designed notebooks at a decent price.
-
I am very brand biased toward asus but I would buy anything that met my needs
I think my next laptop is going to be a large dtr, or im actually going to buy a shuttle desktop.
I dont think asus is in that market yet but maybe by the time im buying one which might be almost a year from now. -
I have helped two friends buy Asus and I just got a F3J for the girlfriend, the funny thing was is that I was going to get a Dell Latitude D620 for my girlfriend, I even ordered it, but I came to my senses, cancelled it and got an Asus F3J
I thought the dell would be cheaper, but after I specified it out to what I wanted the Asus actually for about 100USD more far exceeded the Dell spec and I knew the quality if the Asus is better than dell, so had to do it. Dam dell still charged my card though, took me into overdraft.... muppets..... ha ha
-
I'd buy another ASUS if the price is right... I'd probably want to try an Ensemble this time though, since the last two were Built-Ons.
However, I'm learning more towards getting a Thinkpad for my next one. T series, of course... -
I can't say what my next laptop will be, but I can say that ASUS will be the very first brand I check. I have owned several notebooks (15+) and the two ASUS that I have now are the best I have had. They are well built, well equipped and well priced.
-
good chance. outside of Asus, the only brands I would consider is Apple, Compal and Lenovo. After this year, I think I will also stick to Ensemble models as their pricing is getting better and better
-
Well my on my short list of brands I have a few that I think are better
A top end sony, LG samsung or panasonic like a y5.
But those machines are too expensive. Of the mass produced brands I want an asus or a clevo....
Or a lennovo that is fine as well -
I've had an ASUS W2v since Oct-2005 and I still love it. If I were to get another notebook it would probably be a W2p with the HD-DVD.
I look at other notebooks and they all just seem a bit lame compared to ASUS models. -

As many know I own an ASUS V1JP, I will wait another 11-12 months before considering a new laptop, maybe a V2 series, maybe another V1 series, we will see. But ASUS is once again on top of my list of choices.
Thanks,

I wish the U5, which is the Core 2 Duo regular ratio 12" like my Z33, was available in North America.
My brands are basically Asus and Lenovo.
Since I bought a new desktop and a new laptop within 6 months of each other, I will probably wait another year or two before I buy a whole new PC. The desktop will get a mid life refresh next summer with a new graphics card and a 3rd hard drive, and the laptop may get a larger capacity 7200RPM drive as the perpendicular recording tech trickles down. -
Hahah I question the objectivity of this poll, being put in an Asus "foram" *nudge nudge MysticGolem* and all, but what the heck---it makes me feel all warm and tingly inside.

The objective of this poll is to get an idea of how many would purchase another ASUS product. It would be interesting to see this poll in other sections like Dell, Toshiba, Acer and HP.
"Foram" I know it is spelled "Forum" but when i type "Forum" it turns out like this "*****" I'm gonna remove the forum word.
Thanks,

I voted no only because I think my next laptop will be an Apple. Given the fact that I do some light development work on both Mac and Windows platforms, having both OS's in the same box is quite appealing. If an Asus would allow me to dual boot into OS X (legally), I'd most likely get another Asus. Besides, the size/weight ratio on the macbook pro's is pretty impressive - the 15.4 inch model weighs 5.6 pounds.
-
ASUS notebooks are really getting better, especially the ensembles. I'm getting my ASUS G1 soon (already ordered, still waiting for delivery) and it's going to be my 1st ASUS laptop.
Next time, the only brands I'm going to consider are Sager (the DTRs), Lenovo (Thinkpads), LG, and Samsung. And I'm really going to avoid Sony, Acer, etc. -

Since Asus makes Macbooks (as one other person mentioned) I consider I vote for Apple a vote for Asus. Mine will definitely be an Asus. Also, definitely an Ensemble, since the Built-Ons are hit or miss unless you really know what you are doing when picking parts (I still don't know how to determine thermal envelopes and such, so I can't be trusted, I will just but all of the biggest baddest parts in like a dope =P)
-
I own V6V for less than a year and I am very happy with it,right now I am looking for a 12 or 13 inches,W2p and also V6VA+IPS non glossy screen.
-
i would defo buy another asus. The service and support i have recieved for this one has been spot on and the quality of this fine machine is top notch
-
Asus is a great company, but I went Compal this time around. It was between the G1S and the IFL90 - the IFL90 won on battery life.
-
as of now i got a HP and im sure my next one is an asus though

Personally I have doubts about buying another ASUS. Contrary to an opinion expressed above, I believe the ASUS lineup has been steadily going down, from focusing on the high-quality notebook market, to focusing on the cheap plastic and mass production. Nothing wrong with that, cheap plastic notebooks are a perfectly good option for many people -- but after having experienced the quality of the V6 and the M6, it's not for me...
Besides being somewhere in the backwaters in ASUS' plans and schedule, their current business line is also not so impressive... The V1 is ok, I've seen it today in a store for the first time in real-life, but compared to the M6 it's not as stylish... it seems a little bit too square-ish... also I hate the huge width of the LCD bezel needed to accomodate the webcam. There have also been some poor design decisions (IMO) like dropping the multibay from the V2 for... what? I don't know. I also don't like the current trend of throwing a webcam on top of every notebook, and the widescreen and glossy frenzy... but that's not only with ASUS, it's with everybody.
I still hope that ASUS will shape up and deliver a good business notebook in the space of the next year; without packing it full of pointless features, but instead saving on weight and size; if possible, with a matte screen; and necessarily top-notch build quality and looks. Otherwise, I will have to move on to some other brand. -
It really depends on what my needs are, prices of new notebooks, and what the competition has to offer. I'll certainly take a look at what Asus has to offer when it comes time to replace my current notebook in 2-3 years. Though, in some ways, they still don't have some features that I want - such as a docking station for most notebooks to make it easier to create desktop setups where you can just lift up the notebook and walk away from a desk w/o having to unplug everything. But I think I'm exaggerating that "problem" for myself. I've since been using a USB hub more often, so when I want to leave my desk at school, I only need to unlock my computer, remove a USB cable, remove a speaker cable (if I'm not using headphones), and remove my network cable.
I didn't realize how old this topic was before I posted in it. Why do people bump these threads that are several months old? This forum should have archiving, so that after x amount of months (2-3), after which time, the threads should only be searchable and no editing or posting to the thread would be allowed. -

ASUS the best choice for me ^_^
But my dream is SONY VAIO AR series with blu ray

I'll go for an Asus for my next purchase, i have deep respect and admiration for this brand of notebooks now.

vinceboiii Animals are friends, not food.
i dont have one yet but i love the designs and they are really decent price and my first laptop is going to be ASUS preorder my C90S which is coming soon :]
-
I don't think so. I hold them in high esteem because of my experience with their motherboards. And, indeed, the guts of any Asus notebook is both well conceived and well executed.
But EVERY SINGLE Asus notebook I know of has a critical flaw for me. Sometimes it's those awful mushy keyboards, sometimes a baffling decision like soldering 512MB to the motherboard, applying a kiddy modder design, exorbitant cost, fugly as hell gray/black two-tone interiors, etc. -
well out of the 6 notebooks I've bought all 6 have been asus. If/When i do get another upgrade it will be an Ensemble, and a decent one at that.. so W, V ,U or S series. The finishing and attention to detail is quite rare.
having said that, I might even consider a macbook somewhere down the line.. might have to trail that with the GF first.. -
sesshomaru Suspended Disbelief!
I was all set for an Asus as my second laptop.... Just my blighted luck.. Now I am an Asus Traitor ...

I think my purchase of the economy line A8 has soured me on ASUS. I expected much better build quality and driver support, but unfortunately did not get either with the A8JP (which got discontinued 1 month after I bought it). I also blame ATI as the x1700 has not lived up to my expectations either. Their lack of driver releases hasn't helped either.
My next NB purchase will most definitely be a Macbook Pro in an OSX/Vista dual boot config. -
I think Asus were really good back with their Pentium-M notebook series like the W3, Z33, W1, W2 and V6 series. I really don't like the look of the new series. I personnally think Asus notebook are getting worst and worst. My next one will be a D630 from Dell or a Macbook / Macbook Pro.
-
If I go the laptop route again, I would definitely purchase another Asus.
-
Seven months later, including a dead LCD screen, I'm very satisfied. The computer runs great, the screen is gorgeous, warranty tech support is very straightforward (although slow to repair laptop; 10 days), the G1 even runs MS flight Sim X which I thought wouldn't make it when I got the PC(dynamic/weather settings turned to minimum, everything else set to high).
I've done some video editing and am very happy with the results. Dual core is the way to go! -
Very happy with my F3SV.. Highly recommended!!!
my next notebook (hopefully after 4-5 years) will be an ASUS -
