Unfortunately I wanted to purchase this from Proportable, but Newegg has a weekend sale for this unit. If I dont purchase an ensemble unit from a Asus "Gold" ;) Reseller like Proportable, will the warranty/Global warranty be the same? Will the service be different? If so Id rather spend more now and have the Proporable service instead.

I'm pretty sure that the warranty is the same 2 year ASUS warranty. But I'm pretty sure it would be easier if you buy it from a reputable reseller like PP, especially because of the v6v's Zero Dot policy, I'm not sure how that works with NewEgg, but I'm confident Justin will be more then glad to help you exchange if there was a deaed pixel.

NewEgg has a no return policy, how does that work along with ASUS's zero dot policy?

We're actually a Premier Partner... but that's ok...... Technically the warranty is the same, but don't ever except to get any help or even as much as a hello from anyone at New Egg.... I can't change out prices from what Asus sets, but that also keeps us in Premier Partner status.... setting the market..... if they want to get rid of them for $50 less, so be it, but I can't help you... i'm sorry.

Would have to believe Asus would honor its warranty directly.

It is Asus' warranty to honor... that's not the point. Some people don't appreciate a thing called service... Asus isn't always the best place to call before or after a sales for many reasons. A lot of people use us to get their information and buy from other places. I don't really care as we treat every customer as though they choose us because we were the best and we answer their questions and help them find the right notebook, regardless.... Some people end up going for a different type of notebook, or don't have the funds for a new notebook afterall...... The only time I mind is when someone comes into the forums and brags that they used us for information and then save a couple bucks somewhere else... But that does speak to what we do offer..... because the cheap place can't or won't answer the questions these people have.... so first you have to hope you're actually going to get what you ordered (thats the case with most cheap places)..... and then hope you don't need them for anything since you couldn't trust them for anything before the sale. Then, I know every place is different... but on ensemble models... those places who basically just drop ship won't even allow a return on them........ and some people complain we've got a 15% restocking fee across the board on all notebooks... but that's business.... allowing no returns period and being stuck with something you find is not what you want is worse than paying a fee to cover expenses..

It's all in how you look at it.
