Looking to possibly purchase a G2. How is ASUS' tech support? Any G2 owners out there have any problems I should consider before buying?

Asus tech support in North America is very good, where do you live?
Many here are North American Users and have had a pleasent experience using the service centers and customer service. -
I have read your review, I found it very userful, thanks. I live in Orlando, Fl.

The 7700 is a very nice videocard but if you are a big gamer then the 7700 combined with the 17inch of the G2 might not be good enough.
Just my 2 cents tho. The card works great on my G1 with the games out at the moment. (about to install Rainbowsix Vegas on the laptop to try it out) -
Doesn't the G2 have the ati x1600. I'm not a huge gamer...I play some...but, it's not all I do. This is really jsut a general computing deal. It's going to replace the desktop at home. I'll use it for games, internet, just about everything. I like the specs of the G2...just want to know of any big problems and ASUS' support. ASUS notebooks are pretty new to me...so far I've researched the mainstream stuff, DELL, Gateway, etc.

Hehe, it doesn't come with a Go 7700 or a X1600 lol, its a X1700
.
As for gaming it will perform just like the games I've tested at those settings which are decent for a midrange laptop.
The reason why hellsent is putting forward other brands is because Dell, Tosh, and few other brands offers more graphical performance like a 7900GS or 7900GTX in their 17" laptops and at the same price or lower.
However, if the G2 and Asus interests you, then you may want to look at the W2 series notebooks too, they are little more pricey but it may be something you want or have features that you may need.
Otherwise when looking at the G2 itself it is good, nice big beautiful screen, interesting design that may appeal to you.
As previously stated the Asus NA service is top notch, you shouldn't have any problem with the customer service. -
The only thing the G2 doesn't have that I want is a TV tuner card and higher resolution. But, I hear that the screen is great and I plan on running a larger desktop LCD in the future, so the native resolution on the G2 will probably be OK for when I'm away from the desk. The W2 is a little out of my price range...I'd like to keep my purchase under 2K. To get a decent GPU and 17" screen from DELL or other big vendors more than the G2 price.l
As for the TV tuner card - I noticed in another post that the slot is open...I hope to purchase one later and install it myself. Hopefully some folks on the boards here can help me when it's time to make that purchase. I haven't found many mini PCI tv tuners in my search's. -
that was exactly the reason i mentioned it. thought the G1 / G2 was aimed more towards the gaming community with the blinking lights and gaming mouse.
Guess i need to read your review again Milestone, had it in my mind that the G2 came equipped with the same videocard as the G1. -

I have compared the G1, V1JP, G2 and their 3DMark05/06 and PCMark05, you will see that the G1's Go 7700 and G2's X1700 perform at roughly the same performance while doing synthetic tests, but I am sure many users would have prefered an Nvidia solution.
Purchasing a G2..owner opinions please
