I'm thinking of getting this notebook (available in Europe) since it's comparable in performance to the popular M68Ne series, but is cheaper:
it gets delivered with 1x512 Mb RAM and 1.7 GHz Dothan (instead of 2x256 and 1.6 Ghz for the similarly priced M68Ne)
The only reviews I found were (Both sites in German):
http://schlarb.tcs-graphix.com/
http://www.hardware-mag.de/hardware.php?id=317&page=8
(the second one states that the ATI RAdeon 9700 in the A3G is underclocked and made trouble with 3DMark. Anyone know anything about this?)
Could any of the A3843GLP or similar A3G model owners share their impressions? What's the screen quality etc.
Since the A3G is the older model, I figure there should be people around that could explain why other forums (i.e. http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=13838&highlight=asus)
are full of M68 reviews, but no data on A3G.
I'd really like to know if there is some flaw hidden in A3G compared to the M68 to justify the cheaper price, since from all the info I could get it's even better in some aspects (1x512 vs 2x256, TV-Out...)

Im not sure if the A3G uses the same LCD as the A3N/L...but i know for a fact that the A3N/L have very poor LCD quality, it looks faded blurry and the text isnt sharp...even at different resolutions..I would steer clear from the A3 series, especially if you want atleast a decent LCD

Which reasonably priced 1.33:1 TFT ASUS would you reccomend?
A3800G Series have a SXGA+ 1400x1050 15" screen, the A3N/L series I've encountered had only XGA (so I hope this one's better, otherwise, looking for another).
I found another test and they rated A3800G TFT with 133 Cd/m^2 (in other words, low, as people aim for 180-200 at least) but there was no mention of blurryness or bad pic quality (it even got 24/25 stars in display category !!)
Link to the various benchmarks they did (again in german) here:
http://www.notebookjournal.de/tests/inspection/21
There are some very detailed pictures there, but the TFT is off.
Problem is, I can only order it - Can't check it out before I buy (so I'm still looking for a display model somewhere).
