Is it possible to have a nvidia quadro FX-1800M video card installed on an ASUS G Series G51JX-X1 Intel Core i7 720QM(1.60GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory 500GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M NoteBook? If so, where can this be done?
The Dell Precision 4500 with the same specs and the FX-1800M card costs $1000 more than the Asus listed above. No way that card is worth more than an extra $400.

Have you tried google? Done any research on the MXM slot that Asus uses? Consider that a starting point for your search.

Thanks for the tip on searching the MXM slot. I found several sites that answered my question. They all said the same thing ......"Bend over Buddy"! Think I'll stick to a desktop.

Umm, well, the card IS worth at least $400 more as far as workstation GPUs go. Considering that a quadro 2800M based on 9800M cost about $700 more than MR 5870.

A cheaper alternative would be to pickup a preowned notebook with a 9800M and try to driver mod it to a Quadro.

driver mod never really worked properly ever since 6000 (or is it 5000) series when nvidia started lasering off the shaders/pipelines to make a difference between consumer and workstation cards. Right now, driver mod could only marginally improve the performance of consumer cards in cad applications, but the stability etc still can't match that of an original workstation card.
