Has anyone tried to run quake 4 on the G1S and if so, is it possible to run it at the highest resolution with max settings?

thanks in advance for your input

It should run at the same settings as Doom 3.

I haven't run either game, but I'm sure someone on here could tell you. I just mentioned Doom 3 because it is more popular than Quake IV.

Isn't quake 4 old? I can play that on my x700 on low mid settings.

Well on my G1P I run (quake 4) 1680x1050 maxed out just fine. So seeing as yours in the new "S" revision you should be fine. However keep in mind this is on a XP PRO machine, so your mileage my vary with Vista.

I run Quake 4 on 1024X768, everything on high, no AA, and it never drops below 60fps.

I just tried it and found that i could play at 1680 x 1050 with max settings (no AA) and it runs quite smoothly. the into cut scene on the glossy G1S display is unbelievable. I am loving this notebook more and more with each passing day

_bare, I think you can push that beast of yours more than you are, bump up that res and throw on some AA

Lol, I know man but Im a stickler about my fps. For example, on CSS I keep it without AA or AntiSotrpic Filtering and a low res just to keep 100+fps. I just hate to see em dip.

Keep in mind that is useless unless you are interested ONLY in the number, because the eye simply can't perceive that sort of rate. If you are indeed proud of the number itself and like to compare yours (favourably, I'd imagine) to others, congrats.

I play Doom 3 on my G1S, stock settings, maxed out except perhaps for AA which only goes on 4x (with the native res so high I don't think AA is all that important unless you look really really close to the screen). Not a problem at all during gameplay. Looks and behaves wonderfully. I haven't got FPS, but then I don't care since it looks so smooth.

I usually max out all settings and keep AA off unless the game absolutely can handle it.

Well, this is the first good computer I have ever had. I guess Im used to using low settings and the game barely being playable. But yeah, its all about the number which I know is entirely frivolous.

Whatever floats your proc _bare =P
If it's fun it's fun right?

I do think the 8600 with its unified shader architecture can probably handle AA without as big of a hit as its older brothers.
