heya, i have had my asus g1s for quite a while now and i have never updated my drivers until today. i was a bit dissapointed when i initially played a few games like bf2 and fear because i wasn't getting the performance i really wanted. the g1s is lauded as being a great gaming alternative to a desktop and it wasn't running games smoothly; i simply disregarded it and viewed it as a result of it being a laptop after all and not being able to run things smoothly compared to high-end desktops.

anyway, after doing some research, i updated to the 169.04 nvidia driver from laptopvideo2go.com and now i run things VERY VERY well. it's a massive improvement over my initial experiences and i am very pleased. bf2 doesn't skip around anymore and fear runs great as well. my notebook would artifact when i played tf2 every once in a while and now it never does.

however, i want more. a lot of people claim i should overclock my graphics card. i am very n00bish about this process; after all, it took me a while to figure out how to update my damn drivers. so, what exactly is the process of overclocking your card and are there any risks invovled?

overclocking the card is simole. first download rivatuner.use the program to overclock the frequencies in small increments until the card becomes unstable or you are satisfied. the risks are that if u overdo it or do not provide enough cooling this could fry your gpu
