This was not clear on the Portable one website, the product brochure, or the NB review of the A8Jm. Does the A8Jm use an ATA or SATA hard drive interface? Also, since Milestone PC is now shipping in the US, who do you suggest that I buy the A8Jm from: Milestone PC, Portable One, or ZipZoomFly?
    Thanks for your help!

It's PATA, the A8Jm doesnt' have SATA support.

I'd say Milestone or Portable1, just because you'd get better service/support from them should you need so.

I also think you should buy from Milestone, but ask about taxes and read about that on their thread, www.notebookforums.ca there was a post here regarding taxes too. So do a search for that.

So whichever turns out better for you go for that :D, either one you'll be happy.

    Thanks,

A8Jm comes with a Fujitsu 5400rpm 8MB. They only support PATA HD, doesn't like z71v which support the both of PATA and SATA. So far, all the models for Core Duo only support PATA, might be available lastest models in the future.

Interesting that it uses an Ultra ATA interface, especially considering it has the Intel 945 chipset. I thought most of the notebooks based on that chipset used SATA.

Either way, don't let SATA vs. UATA make or break your buying decision. There's not a whole lot about a SATA drive that makes a practical difference, and it will probably not be missed.

EDIT: What the. . have I been in the Asus forum this entire time? Thought I was in What to Buy . .
