I noticed they are selling this at BB for a decent price but I wanted to check out custom configurations online to see if I could configure a higher resolution display, BR, BT etc. The problem is, the online versions have that ugly kiddy red on the sides and it just kills the look of the laptop. The BB version is all black and I really like that about it. Is there a website that sells it without the kiddy red plastered on the laptop?

Right now... I would avoid this laptop at all costs. Have you read in the G71 thread below this one? This thing dies within 2 hours or so and I'm not talking about battery life. When the video card reaches 81-82 degrees, the card starts downclocking and the computer is literally not usable for a while. It often crashes alot too. Sad to say, the G51v at Best Buy handles a whole lot better than the G71. So either get the G51v or avoid the G71 for now until you read the Asus has fixed the problem...

Lol nope , Bestbuy is the only place who carries the Non-Kiddie edition. I agree about the red though and they should have just stuck with all black for all the models but i guess they have to somehow distinguish between the BB ones and the Internet reseller verisons .

Yeah so I went to BB today to look at both the G51 and G71. The G71 had a nice cover but the rest of it was pretty meh. The keyboard looked and felt cheap, the palm rest was uninspiring, the display was horrible. Basically the laptop as a whole sucked. The G51 on the other hand was a much better laptop overall. It had a more crisp display (not saying much though), much better keyboard and palm rest design and the same GTX 260m. I wasn't impressed with the transformers kiddy white cover though...sigh. I just don't get these laptop manufacturers, do they think all gamers want these ugly flashy kiddy designs on their gaming laptops? A group of 13 year olds were drooling in excitement over these laptops though..my gf started laughing and I felt embarrassed just looking at these laptops after that. I'd kill for a black brushed aluminum gaming laptop with a GTX 260m. My dream laptop would be a Dell Studio XPS 16 with the 260m..but the closest I can get to that is the 4670. Guess I'll be sticking with Dell for now... oh yah some pics I took today:
