A local retailer is getting its first shipment soon. I am interested in a ultraportable laptop, but this thing is kinda heavy. Is 4lbs really light enough? What material is used for this notebook? I'm currently using a Z71V and this thing is like a brick. It's extremely uncomfortable to carry for a long time. Another thing that concerns me is that whether the integrated video card is fully DirectX 9 compliant. The reason is that I want to be able to install Vista and use the full Aero interface. The problem is that I heard that it's not fully directX9 compliant and that the CPU is used for vertex shading or something like that. Also does it have a biometric finger scanner? Thanks.

    No finger scanner.
Whether 4lbs is light enough is up to you...it'll feel like a feather compared to the Z71v though.
Not sure about the DX9 thing...but I'm pretty sure you'll be able to install Vista. (99% sure)

Vista will work with even a Gma900 card. but it sill disable certain eye candy. It will work with any card but you wont be able to use all the graphics features of vista. Honestly i think vista is going to be a system hog im kinda dreading it. But the tech geek in me will make me switch. i prefer function and speed over an eye candy cool looking resource hog.

Something tells me you use the "Windows Classic" scheme rather than the Default Windows XP style...

NO NO i wouldnt go that far. just reg xp with different icons log in and boot up screen. i used to install all the crap object dock. and customize everything make it more linux like. and i looks great. but to me windows is so quick and intuitive to get around. to me its the most efficient so i just got rid of all the crap. but no i wouldnt go as far as to go classic lol. only my server is like that where i just want perforance. Oh and i do still disable all the fade effects and that stuff. All the apps you add on to reskin windows just take up resources so i dont like it. they also arent always the most stable. so maybe when vista comes out it will run well since it built onto the OS. but we will see.

I know Vista is going to install on the W5F. I'm just wondering what are the likelihood that I can use the full Aero interface. I just wished that Asus stuck a Geforce 7400 into the laptop or something. Sigh...

You will be able to use some of the visual features. but i forgot exactly what but the GMA950 is missing something hardware wise that can utilize everything that vista will offer. reall though does it matter it will look nice no matter what.
