Okay, I asked this question a while ago and got no response and I tried using the search function but all I got was the answer for every other laptop in the brand. So now I ask - Will the C90s support the new penryn processors for the desktop? I know this will probably require a bios update but will it ever happen? Has there been any news or rumors about this? I saw one of the wolfdales on newegg for 200ish and the thermal and power requirements are identical to the conroes but this thing runs much faster (3.0ghz, 1333mhz fsb). Again, I know a bios update would be the minimum required for the support but will Asus do it? Is the board even compatible? (It says its for LGA 775 but the C90 board is screwy)

The Intel 945 chipset doesn't work with the 1333Mhz fsb so you can't use any of the new cpu's. You can overclock the e6600 up to 2,93Ghz and I think 1266Mhz fsb. That should be close enough.

Penryn = cooler running temps and less voltage consumed for equal power. I would very much prefer a penryn running 2.6isgh chz with 1333mhz FSB to be oerclocked rather than an E6600. I believe the C90, from the standpoint of hardware, can take the penryn's heat and power requirements. I was just hoping that the motherboard would be able to handle it. I guess I might very well be doing a C90P motherboard swap or just buying an absolute barebones C90P and transferring everything over.

I'll just sell my C90S with CPU, 1GB RAM chip and video card and buy a C90P with new CPU (quad core), 2GB RAM chip and 8700M or 8800M :D
