I have an Asus S96J notebook, with the Cure Duo processor at 2.16ghz. Right now, when I go to the properties of My Computer, it displays the following information:

This is while I am running Firefox and an Instant Messenger application, nothing more. Is it normal for the processor to be running that fast, when I am not really using any intensive applications? I was under the impression that the speed of the Core Duo processors would fluctuate and vary directly with what you were doing. (e. g. if you weren't running a lot of applications, the processor would only be running at say 800mhz)

Is there a way to control the speed of the processor so that it only increases when you're multi-tasking or using large applications, and when you're not, the processor is slower?

You probably have the processor right now on always on, as that allows it to stay at full speed at all times. If you go to the power settings, you can change the power option aswell. Usually I have mine on the portable setting(I dont remember right now), so whenever I need the CPU power, it will go to that speed.

I just downloaded NHC and I switched it to dynamic switching. I think that will correct the problem. Thanks for the help!
