I was just wondering what brand of ram is used in the w3 series? Also is it ok to mix brands? And can someone explain "matching" and "dual-channel" in terms of memory?

I'm not sure what brand of memory is in the w3's but the purpose of dual channel is to reduce the bottleneck of info between processor and ram, think of it as a 4 lane highway vs an 8 lane highway, more cars = less downtime for processor to process info, and more info can get through. It's also not a good idea to mix brands because of incompatibilities, and system instabilities and such, but i suppose you can. Also 2 sticks of different clock speeds can be run, but the faster will default to the slower speed. 1x667mhz and 1x333 together will put them both running at 333

Well, with the W3j i preordered from proportable i had also order the corsair ram. will i have some compatibilitiy issues with that because i'm assuming the ram used in the w3j is of a different brand.

I don't think ProP would sell something that would not be compatible - think about it....you'll be fine.
